Iglidur is a specialized range of high-performance polymers from the German company igus, based in Cologne, developed specifically for moving components and industrial applications. In the field of 3D printing, Iglidur is synonymous with tribofilaments – engineering-grade filaments with extremely low friction, high wear resistance and long service life even in demanding operating conditions.
Iglidur materials are engineered to replace conventional engineering plastics (e.g. POM) and to enable the printing of plain bearings, gears, guide elements and other functional parts that actually move and are continuously loaded. The portfolio includes universal tribofilaments for standard sliding applications, food-grade materials (e.g. variants compliant with EU 10/2011 and FDA), chemically and thermally resistant types for use up to around 170–180 °C, and special filaments with exceptional strength and up to dozens of times higher wear resistance compared to standard ABS.
A key advantage of the Iglidur brand for 3D printing is the combination of easy processing on standard FDM/FFF 3D printers with professional tribological properties – parts are self-lubricating, durable and ready for real industrial operation. Thanks to this, Iglidur ranks among the most sought-after premium materials for functional prototypes as well as serial production in 3D printing.
