    Vortek Hotend Change System

It swaps the whole hotend, not just the filament

Traditional single-nozzle multi-material printing has to purge leftover material between filament changes. Vortek instead swaps the entire hotend intelligently, for faster, cleaner prints with minimal waste.

Multi-material printing with minimal purge waste

Multi-material printing with minimal purge waste

Each material gets its own hotend, so most of the purging between filament changes disappears.

    Fully automatic filament change

Vortek works with the reliable AMS, so the whole filament change is automatic. There is no need to load each filament into the toolhead by hand.

    Always the most efficient combination

Each hotend stores filament information in its memory, so the right filament is matched to every hotend. When you print with more than seven filament types, the system calculates the combination with the least purge waste.

    Why Vortek?

    Small form factor, more filaments

    Small form factor, more filaments

Only the hotend is swapped, so the printer holds up to six replaceable hotends without significantly reducing the build volume.

    Contactless design for reliability

    Contactless design for reliability

Instead of metal contact pins, which oxidise and lose connection, Vortek uses a contactless solution with a stable high-frequency link. It is the foundation for precise temperature control and smart hotend sync.

Colours are not limited by toolheads

Colours are not limited by toolheads

Unlike toolchangers whose colour count is limited by the number of toolheads, H2C supports up to 24 materials in one print through parallel-connected AMS units. An algorithm allocates filaments to hotends to keep purge waste to a minimum.

    Enclosed for high-performance printing

    Enclosed for high-performance printing

A seamless enclosure and adaptive airflow keep the chamber temperature stable for high-performance materials and filter the air to keep your workspace clean and safe.

    Dedicated hotends for specific filaments

    Dedicated hotends for specific filaments

Dedicate one of the six interchangeable hotends to a specific filament, a real advantage for valuable engineering materials. The hotend remembers the material and is matched automatically the next time you load it.

    Induction heating | 8 seconds

Up to temperature in 8 seconds

Induction heating brings the nozzle to temperature in 8 seconds, so preheating for each material swap is much shorter than with conventional heating.

Inductive calibration | Within 25 µm

    Fully automatic nozzle offset calibration

Inductive nozzle offset calibration is fully automated: no manual steps, no calibration plates, no extra setup. In just a few minutes, H2C calibrates the nozzle offset to within 25 microns.

Not a toy, a serious production powerhouse

High-speed reliability and real-time error detection

The PMSM servo extruder delivers up to 10 kg of extrusion force, 70% more than a stepper motor, and greatly stabilises high-flow extrusion. The proprietary servo architecture samples resistance and position at 20 kHz and detects filament grinding and clogs in real time.

Motion accuracy finer than a human hair

With the optional Vision Encoder, H2C achieves distance-independent motion accuracy of less than 50 µm. The system compensates for mechanical drift during calibration, so precision and performance last over time.

Servo extruder | Eddy current sensors

    Smooth surfaces, sharp edges

H2C senses extrusion dynamics with both the extruder servo motor and the high-resolution eddy current sensors on the nozzle. It calibrates Pressure Advance automatically for each filament, for smoother surfaces and cleaner, sharper edges.

    59 sensors | 4 cameras

    Comprehensive print monitoring

H2C has 59 sensors and a quad-camera computer vision system run by a proprietary neural algorithm. While printing, it detects even subtle anomalies in real time. You do not have to be an expert, the printer watches out for problems for you.

    Comprehensive print monitoring

    AI camera

The AI camera continuously tracks extrusion and immediately detects material build-up, filament deviations and extrusion failures. It also runs a pre-flight check so every print starts safely.

    Best-in-class air filtration

    Best-in-class air filtration

Three-stage filtration with a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter and a coconut shell activated carbon filter effectively reduces odours and harmful particles from engineering materials.

    Fire-retardant construction

    Fire-retardant construction

The chamber is built entirely from flame-retardant material for passive fire protection across the whole enclosure.

    Flexible network security and connectivity

    Flexible network security and connectivity

The cloud lets you control the printer from any device. For security-sensitive use, H2C works fully offline: print, send files and update firmware without internet. For advanced users, Developer Mode opens MQTT access for integrating third-party components and software.

    Laser and cutting

    More than a 3D printer

H2C Laser Edition supports both the 10W and 40W laser modules and works with the blade cutting module. The standard H2C supports blade cutting and can be upgraded for laser with an upgrade kit.

This configuration includes neither a laser nor the cutting module. The cutting module is sold separately; laser requires an upgrade kit.

    Laser engraving and cutting

    Laser engraving and cutting

With a laser module, H2C Laser Edition engraves and cuts, so one machine makes both printed and laser-made parts.

    Blade cutting

    Frequently asked questions

Which hotends come with the H2C?

The box includes 8 hotends and one AMS 2 Pro. On the right are induction hotends: 4× 0.4 mm hardened steel (1 pre-installed, 3 in the accessory box), 1× 0.2 mm and 1× 0.6 mm. On the left are standard hotends: 2× 0.4 mm hardened steel (1 pre-installed, 1 in the accessory box).

What do I need to use the full hotend-swap capability?

Bambu Lab recommends adding 3 × 0.4 mm induction hotends, a 0.2 mm and a 0.6 mm left hotend, one AMS 2 Pro and one AMS HT. The two AMS 2 Pro units then feed the right induction hotends and the AMS HT feeds the left hotends. Alternatively, add 2 AMS HT units and connect all three AMS units to the right hotends.

Does the H2C support laser and blade cutting?

H2C Laser Edition supports both the 10W and 40W laser modules and works with the blade cutting module. The standard H2C supports blade cutting and can be upgraded for laser with an upgrade kit.

Can an H2S or H2D be upgraded to an H2C?

Yes, with the Vortek Upgrade Kit. The upgrade is complex, time-consuming and costs more in the end, so Bambu Lab recommends buying the H2C directly if you want Vortek.

Can I combine different nozzle sizes in one print?

Not yet. The firmware does not support mixing nozzle sizes between left and right or within the Vortek hotend set. Mixing nozzle types of the same size, such as 0.4 mm standard flow and high flow, is supported.

Are H2C plates compatible with the H2D?

Build plates are not. The Vortek hotend rack takes up space, so the H2C print bed is slightly smaller than the H2D. Vision calibration plates, the laser platform and blade-cutting mats are compatible across all H2 series models.

How many packages will my order arrive in?

The H2C AMS Combo ships in one package. The Laser Full Combo with the 10W or 40W laser ships in two: the first holds the H2C Laser Full Combo and the second the laser module.
