Bambu Lab X2D
The main nozzle prints the part, the auxiliary nozzle handles supports or a second material. Supports peel away in one pull and the surface stays smooth and precise.
Multi-material printing without compromise.
Smooth surfaces at full speed.
Crisp details and clean overhangs.
Stronger parts from engineering materials.
Precision that lasts for years.
Watches the print while you are away.
Designed for printing at home.
Dual nozzle system
The main nozzle prints the part, the auxiliary nozzle prints supports from its own material. Steep overhangs, fabric folds or internal channels get full support that peels away cleanly without marking the surface.
Support material in the auxiliary nozzle, measured by Bambu Lab on the listed models.
PLA for strength, TPU for flex. Bags with zippers, grips, bumpers or figures with moving joints come off the bed ready to use.
The nozzles switch in a split second. Bambu Studio splits colours between both nozzles, so colour changes are faster, transitions sharper and filament waste far lower.
Print quality
Instead of a motor for nozzle changes, X2D packs a Gear-and-Trigger mechanism into the toolhead. The lever taps the trigger, the gear train swaps the nozzle. No extra weight, just a clean switch.
A lighter toolhead means less inertia and vibration. Surfaces stay smooth at full speed, all the way to the last layer.
Freshly extruded filament is soft. X2D draws cool air from both the left and right intakes and keeps exchanging the chamber air. With low-temperature materials like PLA, every line sets at exactly the right moment, so overhangs and bridges stay clean.
A 300 °C nozzle and an actively heated chamber up to 65 °C cover most engineering filaments such as ABS, ASA or nylon. The chamber spreads heat evenly, so layers bond firmly from edge to edge and large parts come out flat.
Repeatable precision
Most printers calibrate flow with a single K factor for every situation. Flow Dynamics Calibration on X2D builds a time-varying, nonlinear model of the whole extrusion system. A slightly worn nozzle, slightly damp filament or residue inside the nozzle is detected and compensated. Smooth surfaces and sharp edges stop being luck.
Extruder gears bite into the filament and create small pressure fluctuations that show up as fine lines on the surface. The permanent magnet synchronous servo samples resistance and position 20,000 times per second and adjusts torque on the fly. Fluctuations are smoothed out before they reach the surface.
Ringing and ghosting blur edges at high speed. Active Vibration Compensation cancels them in real time, so corners stay crisp no matter how fast you print.
Printing on autopilot
Before printing, the Live View camera and the toolhead camera check that the build plate is clear and correctly seated. During printing they watch for spaghetti, filament clumping on the nozzle and a jammed purge chute, pausing the job before it wastes hours of time and material.
Sensors monitor the filament path, the printing process, the thermal environment and machine safety. Every variable that affects the result is measured, checked and acted on.
Sensors track feeding, tangle risk, filament usage and readiness of both nozzles. Start a twelve-hour print, walk away and come back to a finished part.
Ten temperature sensors on the nozzle, bed and chamber, paired with airflow sensors, keep heat steady through the whole print. Corners do not lift and layers do not split.
Three-stage filtration on every print: a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter and coconut-shell activated carbon reduce odours and airborne particles. The same system is used in the H series.
X2D is UL 2904 certified for indoor air quality when printing Bambu PLA Basic and PETG Basic. Low particle and VOC emissions were confirmed by an independent laboratory.
Swap the nozzle in seconds, without tools and without stress. Easy even for a complete beginner.
Active motor noise cancelling and optimised air ducts keep X2D below 50 dB in silent mode.
Brighter chamber lighting makes Live View and time-lapses clearer than ever. Check on the print from anywhere.
The dual nozzle system completed a life-cycle test of more than 1,000,000 switches and kept moving smoothly the whole time. Built for years of reliable work.
X2D prints beautifully out of the box and gets better with every update. Major firmware updates arrive roughly every three months with new features and better performance, pushed straight to the printer.

AMS 2 Pro

X2D is the successor to X1C. It adds a dual nozzle system for up to 25-colour printing, an actively heated chamber up to 65 °C for engineering filaments, a servo extruder with real-time flow sensing, filament tangle detection, expanded AI monitoring with both the Live View and toolhead cameras, and Vision Encoder based motion accuracy calibration.
When printing with the main nozzle, the maximum movement speed is 1,000 mm/s and the maximum acceleration is 20,000 mm/s².
Yes, both hotends share the same structure and components and can be swapped between the left and right positions.
It actively extracts air from the chamber. In cooling mode (PLA and other low-temperature materials) it works with the adaptive airflow system to remove heat and fumes. After printing high-temperature materials, enable Purify Air At Print End to clear residual fumes, optionally routing them outdoors through a ventilation hose.
Per hotend up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units (12 units in total, 24 slots). With both hotends and the maximum AMS configuration you can print with up to 25 colours.
No. The interface type is different and the AMS Hub is not compatible.
X2D supports all current Bambu Lab 256 × 256 mm build plates. It does not recognise first-generation plates. If the printer fails to detect the plate type, select Ignore on the screen or disable build plate detection.
Yes. The High Flow hotend keeps print quality while increasing speed considerably, cutting print time by up to 30 % compared with the standard nozzle.
