Product description
Professional Lab PLA Silk Tricolor Army (military) 1 kg is a special
PLA Silk filament with a distinctive
tricolor color gradient in army / military tones. Multiple shades gradually alternate throughout the spool (typically a combination of green, brown, sand and khaki), creating an original
camouflage, “army” effect on the print without the need for manual painting.
The base is modified
PLA Silk – a PLA-based blend with added components for a
strong silky gloss and smooth surface. This makes models look luxurious, emphasizes edges and curves, and reflects light very well. Despite its decorative character, the filament retains the typical
easy printability of PLA and is suitable for most desktop FDM/FFF printers.
Key features
- Tricolor “Army / military” gradient – multiple shades on one spool, creating a gradient camouflage color effect.
- Silky gloss (Silk PLA) – an extremely smooth, glossy surface that masks layers and gives a premium appearance.
- PLA-based decorative filament – ideal for models, figurines, decorations, cosplay parts and design elements.
- Prints easily like standard PLA – low shrinkage, minimal warping, no enclosed chamber required.
- Standard 1,75 mm diameter with a tight tolerance (typically ±0,02–0,03 mm) for reliable feeding.
- 1 kg spool – sufficient material for larger projects and series production of decorative parts.
- Suitable for most FDM/FFF printers (Prusa, Creality, Ender, Anycubic, Bambu Lab, Artillery, Elegoo, etc.).
Recommended use
PLA Silk Tricolor Army is primarily intended for
visual and presentation models where appearance is the most important factor:
- Figurines, character models, fantasy and sci-fi miniatures
- Cosplay and LARP accessories – armor, costume parts, weapons and props in an army style
- Decorative and designer objects – vases, statuettes, logos, trophies, awards
- Themed models – military equipment, dioramas, vehicle and equipment replicas
- Advertising and presentation prototypes where an impressive appearance and color are important
For
mechanically highly stressed parts or parts exposed to higher temperatures (in a car, near a heater, outdoors in sunlight), materials such as PETG, PLA+, ASA or ABS are more suitable.
Printing parameters (recommended)
Specific values may vary depending on the printer, hotend and cooling; the settings below serve as a starting point for most FDM printers:
- Material: PLA Silk (modified PLA)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Spool weight: 1 kg
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 195–215 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 50–60 °C (some surfaces also allow printing at a lower temperature / without heating)
- Printing speed: approx. 40–60 mm/s
- Cooling: 70–100 % – higher airflow helps achieve better detail and gloss
- Surface type: glass, PEI, textured sheets, adhesive film – always use a clean surface and the correct first-layer height
To achieve the most attractive
silky gloss and smooth color transitions, it is advisable to:
- choose medium to lower printing speeds,
- use a higher number of perimeters for more pronounced gloss on the walls,
- print larger or taller models so that the entire tricolor transition appears on one print surface.
Appearance and “Tricolor Army” color effect
The filament is wound as a
color gradient – along the length of the strand,
three (or more) military shades alternate. As a result:
- each model is an original,
- a smooth color transition is created on large surfaces,
- interesting “banding” and stripes in army colors appear on smaller parts.
The color distribution on a specific print depends on:
- the size and height of the model,
- the orientation on the print surface,
- the point on the spool where you start printing.
If you need a specific type of transition (e.g. a smooth gradient across the entire height of the model), it is worthwhile to:
- make a test tower or
- note the position on the spool for future similar prints.
Advantages of PLA Silk Tricolor Army
- Instant “wow effect” – the army colors and silky gloss attract attention at first sight.
- No complex surface finishing – painting or coating is not necessary; the effect is created during printing.
- Compatibility with standard PLA settings – no major changes to the printer settings are required.
- Low shrinkage and deformation – easy printing even on open-frame printers.
- More eco-friendly base – PLA is a material based on renewable resources.
Filament storage and care
To ensure that the filament retains its properties over the long term, it is recommended to:
- store the spool in a dry place away from direct sunlight,
- after opening, seal it in a bag/box with desiccant (silica gel),
- during longer periods of inactivity, remove the filament from the printer and secure the end in the center of the spool.
Dry filament = better surface quality, less “popping” and more stable extrusion.
