Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray 1kg is a special lightweight PLA filament that foams and creates micro-cavities inside the print at higher temperatures. Thanks to this, it achieves a significantly lower density and weight (approx. 50–80 % of regular PLA), which is ideal for RC planes, drones, gliders, aerodynamic models, and all applications where every gram counts. At the same time, it maintains good stiffness, a matte surface, and full compatibility with Bambu Lab printers and other FDM machines.

Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray 1kg

Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray is a lightweight (foaming) PLA filament developed specifically for applications where the lowest possible weight while maintaining strength and stiffness is required. The material foams at higher temperatures during printing, creating internal micro-cavities and significantly reducing the final density of the print.

Like other Bambu Lab materials, PLA Aero is precisely calibrated for Bambu printers (AMS, RFID tag), but you can use it without problems on any other FDM 3D printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle or larger.

Main advantages of Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray

    • Extremely low density and weight of the print With the correct temperature and flow settings, it is possible to achieve only about 50–80 % density of regular PLA. You use less material for the same size model, and the resulting part is significantly lighter.
    • Ideal for RC models, drones, and gliders Lower weight means longer flight time, better maneuverability, and less load on the structure. PLA Aero is perfect for wings, fuselages, engine nacelles, aerodynamic covers, or structural elements where the weight/strength ratio is a priority.
    • Controllable print density You can control the material density via printing temperature and flow rate:
      • higher nozzle temperature → stronger foaming → lower density and weight,
      • lower flow rate → less material → lighter print.
    • Matte, easy-to-paint surface PLA Aero provides a finely matte surface that can be easily lacquered or painted. Compared to standard PLA Basic, it often achieves better results when painting due to the surface microstructure.
    • Comfortable PLA printing Although it is a special lightweight material, the base is classic PLA, so it offers minimal warping, good layer adhesion, and easy processing.

    Recommended use

    • RC planes, gliders, FPV, and drones Wings, fuselages, tail surfaces, camera mounts, aerodynamic covers.
    • Aero and automotive models Body prototypes, spoilers, diffusers, aerodynamic parts that can be further surface-treated and painted.
    • Lightweight technical parts Structures that carry limited loads but where low weight is key (mounts, panels, covers, support elements for scale models, etc.).
    • Modeling and cosplay Large parts that you need to keep as light as possible (armor, helmets, props).

Warning: PLA Aero has higher requirements for material drying and print parameter settings than regular PLA. Before first use, we recommend thoroughly drying the filament and following the manufacturer's recommended profiles.

    Recommended print settings (indicative)

    • Filament diameter: 1.75 mm
    • Nozzle temperature: approx. 210–260 °C (higher temperature = higher foaming, lower density)
    • Bed temperature: approx. 35–45 °C
    • Print speed: typically 60–80 mm/s (can be adjusted according to geometry)
    • Fan: medium to high, depending on model details
    • Recommendation: for maximum weight reduction, use higher temperatures (230–250 °C) and reduced flow according to the manufacturer's tables.

Specific recommended profiles can be found in the Bambu Studio software for Bambu Lab printers, or parameters can be transferred to other slicers.

    Storage and handling

    • Store in a dry place, ideally in a resealable bag or box with silica gel.
    • We recommend drying the material before important prints (e.g., 55–60 °C for several hours).
    • Avoid long-term exposure to temperatures above approx. 50–60 °C (car in the sun, etc.), as it is a PLA material.

Why choose Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray

    • Original Bambu Lab filament with precise quality control
    • Verified profiles for Bambu Lab printers (X1, P1, A1, AMS)
    • Exceptionally low weight for RC and aero applications
    • Superior print quality and reliability

Bambu Lab PLA Aero Gray 1kg is an ideal choice for anyone who wants to get the most out of 3D printing in terms of weight and performance without sacrificing the printing comfort we know from regular PLA.

    Key features:

    • Lightweight PLA filament developed for maximum weight reduction of prints
    • Foams during printing and creates micro-cavities → prints have only about 50–80 % the density of regular PLA
    • Ideal for RC planes, drones, gliders, and aerodynamic models
    • Matte surface that is easy to paint and lacquer
    • Fully compatible with Bambu Lab printers (AMS, RFID tag) and other FDM printers
    • Still easy to print like classic PLA – low warping, good layer adhesion
    • Possibility to regulate print density by changing temperature and flow
    • Official technical data sheet with precisely defined parameters and recommended print profiles
