Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM 1 l
Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM is a specialized organic cleaning agent developed by Prusa Research for safe and effective washing of uncured SLA/MSLA models. It is based on DPM solvent (dipropylene glycol methyl ether), which combines high cleaning performance with low flammability, low volatility, and minimal toxicity.
Unlike the commonly used isopropyl alcohol (IPA), Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM is less flammable, evaporates significantly less, and carries lower health risks. It is therefore suitable for both professional operations and home workshops, where it helps reduce VOC concentrations in the air and overall increases the safety of working with resin.
Main advantages
- Designed for SLA/MSLA printing
Ideal for washing prints made from Prusament Resin and other standard photopolymer resins.
- Safer than IPA
- significantly lower flammability – higher flash point, lower risk of ignition from a spark or faulty electrical installation
- lower volatility – fewer fumes, lower VOC concentration in the room
- lower toxicity – the formulation is designed to be as safe as possible; it does not require hazard pictograms like IPA (though standard protective rules must still be followed)
- High efficiency and long lifespan
- the cleaner can be used repeatedly for many washing cycles
- in tests with the Original Prusa CW1S washer and Prusament Resin, it was found that 2 liters of cleaner can process approximately 100 ml of residual liquid resin before the efficiency gradually begins to decrease
- due to lower volatility, the cleaner can be stored in open containers for longer periods without significant loss
- Stable and safe chemistry
- unlike isopropanol, it does not form unstable peroxides
- reduced risk of explosive mixtures forming during incorrect handling
Recommended use
- Filling the wash tank
Fill the container or tank (e.g., CW1S) with Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM.
- Washing the print
Place the freshly printed model (still covered in liquid resin) into the bath and start the wash cycle.
- Recommended time: 5–15 minutes depending on model complexity and level of contamination.
- Rinsing with water
After the first wash, rinse the model in a second container with clean water (a small amount of detergent can be added for more effective removal of cleaner residues).
- Drying
- let the print air dry, or use compressed air for faster water removal
- subsequently, you can use the drying cycle in CW1S (temperature and time according to the technical data sheet of the resin used)
- Final curing
After drying, perform UV curing of the print according to the specific resin recommendations.
Tip: Just like IPA, Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM can be used in washing stations, ultrasonic cleaners, and manual baths. Always ensure the device is suitable for organic solvents.
Safety and ecology
Even though Prusament Resin Cleaner DPM is designed to be as low-toxic as possible, it is still a chemical product intended for working with photopolymer resin. Therefore, follow these principles:
- Always use protective gloves (ideally nitrile) and safety goggles.
- Prevent contact with skin, eyes, and mouth.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- In case of a spill, wipe immediately with paper towels and place the contaminated material in a sealed container.
- Everything contaminated with liquid resin and cleaner (DPM) – cleaner residues, rinse water, paper towels, gloves – is considered hazardous waste and must be disposed of in accordance with local legislation (collection centers, hazardous waste collection points).
Always familiarize yourself with the product's Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use.
