Product Description
Prusament PETG Tungsten 75% is a special high-density composite filament made from PETG copolymer filled with 75% tungsten powder (by weight). It is primarily designed for the production of parts for ionizing radiation shielding and other applications where high material density combined with good printability on common FDM printers is required.
This variant contains 100 g of filament, which corresponds to approximately 10 meters of string – an ideal amount for material verification, calibration and test prints or smaller functional components.
Thanks to the properties of PETG and high tungsten content, the material is:
- non-reactive and chemically resistant
- hypoallergenic and non-toxic
- very dense – significantly heavier than conventional plastics
- suitable for professional technical and medical applications
Warning: High tungsten content makes this material significantly abrasive. For printing, it is necessary to use a hardened steel or otherwise reinforced nozzle.
Main Advantages and Use
Key Advantages
- High density and radiation shielding capability
Ideal for parts intended for protection against ionizing radiation (e.g., when working with radiodiagnostic devices or radiopharmaceuticals).
- Non-reactive, hypoallergenic, non-toxic material
Tungsten-filled PETG is suitable for sensitive environments where chemical reactivity or toxic components are undesirable.
- Good chemical resistance of PETG
Suitable for laboratory, industrial, and medical environments where contact with various chemicals may occur.
- Possibility of printing on standard FDM printers
The material is designed for FDM/FFF 3D printing – by following recommended temperatures and using a hardened nozzle, reliable results can be achieved.
- Easy surface finishing
Prints can be easily sanded dry or wet, and additional polishing and surface treatments are possible to achieve a smoother surface.
Typical Applications
- Radiopharmaceutical shielding
Vial holders, containers, covers, and other parts for working with radiopharmaceuticals.
- Testing and calibration aids for radiology
Special test phantoms, calibration objects, and fixtures for diagnostic devices.
- Collimators and masks for gamma cameras
Custom tailored collimators and parts of camera systems used in nuclear medicine.
- Custom shielding covers and fixtures
All types of shielding packaging, inserts, and covers where high density and precise geometry are needed.
Print Settings and Recommendations
For optimal results, follow the manufacturer's recommendations:
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 260 °C ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 80 °C ± 10 °C
- Print speed: up to 200 mm/s (it is recommended to start at a lower speed and gradually increase)
- Cooling: around 50 %, or lower depending on part geometry
- Bed type: satin or textured powder-coated steel sheet; smooth PEI sheet only with a separation layer (glue stick)
Important Tips
- Use a hardened nozzle
Tungsten filler is highly abrasive and quickly wears out brass nozzles.
- Ensure good printer calibration
Incorrect calibration, nozzle clogging, or other printing issues can negatively affect shielding properties.
- Expect shorter filament length per 100 g
Due to high material density, 100 g has only approx. 10 m of filament – plan print length and material quantity with this in mind.

Who is the material suitable for
We recommend Prusament PETG Tungsten 75% especially for:
- radiology departments and laboratories
- research institutions dealing with nuclear medicine and radiation detection
- industrial companies that need custom shielding parts
- advanced 3D printing users who have experience with composite and abrasive materials
For common decorative prints or hobby use, this filament is not suitable – it is a specialized material for narrow technical applications.
