PLA filament 1,75 mm is the most universal material for FDM printing technology, suitable even for printing large objects. Thanks to its simple properties, we recommend PLA to all beginners starting with 3D printing. Another great advantage is its 100% ecological degradability, as PLA is produced from renewable resources such as corn starch. PLA material is hard and durable, just like other plastics, but it is not a material suitable for outdoor use because it degrades and becomes brittle under UV light.
The material is difficult to sand as sanding (friction) generates heat, which causes the fibers to "pull" from the print. Therefore, it is recommended to cool the print during manual sanding, for example by sanding under water. For the same reason, it is also difficult to drill holes in the print (again, heating issues). It is advisable to first spray the material with a filler (putty used in modeling) and then sand and repaint it repeatedly until the material is completely smooth, and finally spray it with color.
Cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) with a spray activator (sometimes superglue alone may be sufficient).
Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface fineness you want to achieve or according to the layer thickness setting during printing. Printing temperature: 210 °C. PLA filament requires a heated bed, but for better material adhesion, it is recommended to heat it up to 55 °C. Furthermore, we do not recommend covering the printer in an enclosure for PLA filament printing, or leave it open. For a high-quality print surface, it is necessary to cool the plastic behind the nozzle as quickly as possible. We therefore recommend setting the plastic cooling fan on the printer to 100%.
The filament is supplied vacuum-packed with a moisture absorber and placed in a cardboard box. The plastic spools on which the filament is wound may vary in design or color. We strive to maintain 100% repeatability of winding and spool color.
