Prusament Resin BioBased60 Obsidian Black 1kg is a black photosensitive resin for MSLA/LCD 3D printers developed by Prusa Research. The
BioBased60 series is designed to offer
the highest possible proportion of ingredients from renewable (plant-based) sources while maintaining
excellent printing reliability, fast curing, and fine details.
The mixture achieves up to
60% biobased content, while the mechanical properties are close to "tough" resins – parts are
strong, tough, and resist deformation well. The
Obsidian Black shade provides a deep, rich black color suitable for precision models, prototypes, and presentation parts.

Printing Properties
- Wavelength: 405 nm (standard for MSLA/LCD printers)
- Recommended layer height: commonly 0.025–0.05 mm (depending on the printer and settings)
- Fast curing – on Original Prusa SL1/SL1S printers, the recommended exposure times for Obsidian Black at a 0.05 mm layer are:
- Original Prusa SL1: approx. 12 s / layer
- Original Prusa SL1S SPEED: approx. 6 s / layer
- Post-processing: rinse in IPA or a suitable cleaning solution, followed by curing in a UV curing station
For Original Prusa SL1/SL1S printers, the manufacturer recommends using
pre-set profiles in PrusaSlicer, which contain verified parameters for BioBased60.
Safety and Handling
- Always use protective gloves and goggles when working.
- Prevent contact of uncured resin with skin and eyes.
- Print only in a well-ventilated area.
- Uncured waste (paper towels, filters, resin residues) must always be completely cured with UV light before being disposed of as mixed waste according to local regulations.
Compatibility
The resin is optimized for
Original Prusa SL1 and SL1S SPEED, but it is
fully usable on most common MSLA/LCD 3D printers with a wavelength of 405 nm. For other printer brands, we recommend starting with parameters similar to the officially stated times and then fine-tuning them.
