Prusament PLA Lightweight Galaxy Black: less weight, more possibilities

Prusament PLA Lightweight Galaxy Black is an actively foamed PLA filament. Heat in the nozzle activates additives that increase the volume of the extruded material and create a lightweight foamy structure. The resulting models can be up to 65% lighter than prints made from regular PLA. With the proper settings, you can print 2–3 times more models from one spool than from standard PLA of the same weight. (prusa3d.com)

Ideal for RC models and cosplay

The low weight is useful for parts of RC aircraft, drones, as well as props and costume components. The matte, subtly textured surface also helps reduce the visibility of layers. Galaxy Black becomes lighter, concrete gray after foaming; the final color depends on the temperature and degree of foaming. (blog.prusa3d.com)

    Recommended print settings

    • Nozzle: 215–235 °C.
    • Heated bed: 50–60 °C.
    • Print sheet: smooth PEI or satin.
    • Starting nozzle: brass 0,4 mm, standard or CHT.

The filament has a diameter of 1,75 mm with a tolerance of ±0,03 mm. (prusa3d.com)

The manufacturer's default profile uses 230 °C, a bed temperature of 60 °C, an extrusion multiplier of 0,45, and retractions disabled. When changing the temperature, also adjust the extrusion multiplier and verify the settings with a calibration print. Do not exceed 250 °C, as this may release potentially hazardous fumes. NFC spool and material care

The spool contains a rewritable NFC OpenPrintTag with material data that can be read using the Prusa mobile app, even offline. Expect more pronounced stringing, susceptibility to scratching, and lower heat resistance. (prusa3d.com)

The material is hygroscopic: store it in a dry place and dry it for 5 hours at 55 °C. (blog.prusa3d.com)
