Prusament PLA Lightweight Army Green: lightweight prints in Army Green

Prusament PLA Lightweight Army Green 1kg (NFC) is a foaming PLA filament designed for models where low weight is crucial. Heat in the nozzle activates additives that foam the extruded material. The result is a lightweight structure with greater volume while using less filament. Prints can be up to 65% lighter than with standard PLA, and with suitable settings, approximately 2–3 times more models can be printed from one spool than from the same weight of standard PLA. A matte surface that reduces layer visibility

Foamed PLA creates a finely textured, matte surface that helps conceal the typical layers of FDM printing. The Army Green shade becomes lighter during foaming, so the resulting color also depends on the nozzle temperature and foaming intensity. (blog.prusa3d.com)

    Where to use lightweight PLA

    • RC aircraft and other flying models where low weight is important.
    • Cosplay props and costume parts that should not unnecessarily burden the wearer.
    • Interior decorations where you can appreciate the matte, textured appearance.
    • Floats and thermal insulation parts that make use of air pockets in the foamed structure. (blog.prusa3d.com)

    Recommended printing settings

    Parameter Recommendation
    Nozzle temperature 215–235 °C
    Bed temperature 50–60 °C
Nozzle Brass 0,4 mm, standard or CHT
Print surface Smooth PEI or satin sheet
    Filament diameter 1,75 mm
    Diameter tolerance ±0,03 mm

Perform a flow calibration before the first print. Foaming intensity increases with temperature, so changing the temperature also requires adjusting the extrusion multiplier. This material is not intended for printing with an unchanged standard PLA profile. (prusa3d.com)

    Drying and finishing prints

The filament is hygroscopic. The recommended drying is 5 hours at 55 °C, followed by storage in a dry place. During printing, expect more pronounced stringing caused by foaming; printing one model at a time and limiting travel moves across perimeters can help. The material has low heat resistance and its surface is prone to scratching. (blog.prusa3d.com)

    NFC spool with OpenPrintTag

The spool contains a fully rewritable OpenPrintTag NFC chip with material information. The data can be read using the Prusa mobile app, and the standard also works offline without dependence on a cloud service. (prusa3d.com)
