Eight tools for true multimaterial 3D printing

The Prusa INDX 8-Tool Conversion Kit is a complete conversion kit designed for the Original Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2). It expands the printer with an automatic changer system for up to eight independent tools. Each filament has its own feed path and dedicated nozzle, so there is no need to purge a shared hotend when changing colors or materials.

This allows you to combine different colors, rigid and flexible materials, or a structural filament with soluble or easily removable supports in a single model. Individual tools can also be fitted with different nozzle diameters, combining fast printing, fine details, and specialized applications within a single job.

Fast tool changes with minimal waste

The INDX system does not use conventional filament switching through a single nozzle. Instead, the active Smart Head automatically selects the required passive tool from the front dock. A tool change during PLA printing takes approximately 12 seconds.

There is no need to create a conventional purge tower or extrude large amounts of filament. The nozzle is prepared before use by an advanced cleaning system, and residual material is collected in the waste container. The result is more efficient filament usage while preserving almost the entire print area.

    Inductive nozzle heating

The Smart Head contains a contactless induction coil that directly heats the nozzle of the selected tool. Low thermal inertia enables rapid heating and cooling, which limits material oozing from parked nozzles and shortens delays during tool changes.

Temperature is measured wirelessly and without contact. The maximum nozzle temperature reaches 300 °C, allowing you to work with a wide range of standard and technical non-abrasive filaments.

Dynamic Dual Drive for different filament types

The Dynamic Dual Drive (DX) extrusion system automatically adjusts the feed gear pressure to the material being used. This makes it easier to switch between rigid filaments and flexible TPU without manually adjusting the extruder.

Separate material paths also reduce the risk of cross-contamination. This is especially important when combining colors, flexible parts, and soluble supports.

Precise alignment of all eight nozzles

The integrated offset calibration system is permanently located outside the print area. Using precise sensing, it determines the position of each nozzle so that colors, materials, and layers align correctly. Calibrating one tool takes approximately 15 seconds.

The LoadCell sensor ensures a high-quality first layer. After installation and initial calibration, the printer can automatically prepare all eight tools for precise pickup, parking, and printing.

Preserved advantages of the enclosed CORE One+

After installation, the enclosed design and automatically controlled ventilation of the CORE One+ (Gen 2) printer remain intact. The top cover supplied with the kit works together with the ventilation system, allowing the doors to remain closed when printing with PLA or PETG.

The usable print volume after installing INDX is 248 × 205 × 270 mm. Compared to the standard configuration, the size is reduced by 2 mm on the X axis and by 15 mm on the Y axis.

    Wide material and nozzle compatibility

The system works with filament from any brand without requiring RFID chips or proprietary spools. It supports nozzles with diameters from 0,25 to 1,0 mm. The eight supplied tools are equipped as standard with 0,4mm high-flow CHT nozzles made of nitrocarburized steel.

    Suitable materials include:

    • PLA and PETG,
    • ASA and ABS,
    • PC and PA,
    • flexible TPU,
    • PVA and BVOH for soluble supports,
    • other non-abrasive filaments with a printing temperature of up to 300 °C.

The supplied surface-hardened nozzles can handle limited amounts of abrasive filaments, but are not intended for long-term printing with them.

    Conversion kit contents
