Prusa INDX 4-Tool Conversion Kit transforms the CORE One+ (Gen 2) printer into a fast multi-material system with independent nozzles. It allows you to combine colors, materials, and nozzle diameters in a single print, practically without waste and without a purge tower.
The Prusa INDX 4-Tool Conversion Kit upgrades the Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2) 3D printer with a fast tool changer featuring four independent tools. Each filament has its own dedicated path and nozzle, so the shared hotend does not need to be completely cleaned when changing materials.
The result is fast multi-color and multi-material printing with minimal waste, without large purge towers and unwanted material mixing. The system allows you to combine, for example, a rigid material with TPU, print soluble supports, or use different nozzle diameters within a single project.
At the heart of the system is a smart active head equipped with a contactless induction coil. The individual passive tools do not contain complex electronics, and their nozzles heat up only after connecting to the active head. This contributes to simplicity, reliability, and fast tool changes.
The actual tool change time during PLA printing is approximately 12 seconds – measured from the last extrusion of the first material to the start of extrusion of the next material directly on the model.
Unlike systems that use a single shared nozzle, INDX does not need to extrude a large amount of filament during every material change. Thanks to the separate nozzles, it operates without a traditional purge tower and reduces the risk of color or material contamination.
After installation, a print area of 248 × 205 × 270 mm remains available. Compared with the standard CORE One+ configuration, the dimensions are reduced by only 2 mm on the X axis and 15 mm on the Y axis.
The four included tools are equipped with 0.4mm high-flow nozzles made of nitrocarburized steel. The system supports nozzle diameters from 0.25 to 1.0 mm, allowing you to have tools ready simultaneously for detailed printing, standard models, and rapid production of larger parts.
The Dual Drive DX dynamic extrusion system automatically adjusts the pressure applied to the fed material. This makes it easier to switch between standard rigid filaments and flexible TPU without manually readjusting the extruder.
Supported materials include:
Note: The included nitrocarburized nozzles have a hardened surface, but they are not intended for long-term printing with highly abrasive filaments.
The tools use a precise mechanical Maxwell coupling. After installation, the printer calibrates the position of the individual tools using a calibration system located outside the print area. Calibration of one tool takes approximately 15 seconds.
The LoadCell sensor helps ensure an accurate first layer without complex manual adjustments. Compatibility with the Prusa ecosystem is also retained, including PrusaSlicer, EasyPrint, and Prusa Connect.
The kit includes four tools, but the INDX architecture supports up to eight tools on the CORE One+. You can expand the configuration later according to increasing requirements for the number of colors, materials, or nozzles.
The version for CORE One+ (Gen 2) does not include GT 1.5 belts with pulleys or the thermally expanding heated-bed mounting, as these components are already included with the Gen 2 printer.
This specific version of the conversion kit is designed for the Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2). It is not a standalone 3D printer, and a compatible printer is required for use.
