What is HueForge?

The HueForge technique is a revolutionary method that enables 3D printing best described as “solid intaglio.” Instead of shadowed bas-reliefs, HueForge lets you print in layers of color. These prints can still achieve intriguing 3D illusions even though they are only a few millimeters thick. The HueForge community calls this method “filament painting,” because the technique stacks ultra-thin translucent layers that combine into new colors similarly to paint. For example, an image of a hummingbird doesn’t use green filament, but a mix of yellow, blue, black, and white.

HueForge isn’t a design program or a slicer, but something in between. You import image files and your palette of filament colors. It helps calculate where to introduce color changes based on the transparency of the filament you’re using in the print.

Custom production using the HueForge technique

We present a unique service that allows you to convert your favorite image into a 3D print using the revolutionary HueForge technique. This method combines layers of color to create stunning 3D illusions.

How does it work?

1. You provide us with the Image/Photo you want processed. After ordering, send it to [email protected]
2. We process it using the HueForge technique and convert it into a 3D model.
3. You have two options:
   • Have us print the finished 3D model for you.
   • We deliver an STL file that you can print on your own 3D printer. (You are currently on this option!)

Details:

• The maximum image width is 25 cm.
• For processing the image, you can choose from 8 basic colors: Black, Gray, White, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Brown. If you prefer, it’s possible to print the image in black and white only. Or the image can include, for example, 3 colors to achieve the correct color tone.
• We have a commercial license, so we can provide this service both for people who don’t have their own 3D printer and want a finished print, and for those who do have a printer and want only their STL file produced.
• The lead time for a printed piece is a maximum of 14 business days from ordering.
• The lead time for the STL file is a maximum of 5 business days from ordering. The STL is delivered electronically to your email.
• If you don’t have your own image or photo, we can create one for you using AI.
