    Product description

GEMBIRD ABS black 1kg is a quality filament made of ABS (acrylonitrile‑butadiene‑styrene), intended for 3D printing of functional and mechanically resistant parts. Thanks to the combination of high strength, toughness and good thermo‑mechanical resistance, it is suitable for prototypes, covers, holders, technical components and parts exposed to higher temperatures.

The filament has a standard diameter of 1,75 mm and is wound on a spool with a weight of 1 kg. At the recommended printing temperature of around 230 °C, it melts smoothly and ensures stable extrusion without nozzle clogging, which will be appreciated by both beginners and advanced users.

ABS from GEMBIRD is characterized by low density, so even larger models remain relatively light while maintaining the required strength. The material is suitable for printing functional parts that must withstand impacts, bending and slightly elevated temperatures.

For printing ABS, a heated bed is necessary and an enclosed print chamber or at least limiting drafts is recommended to minimize warping.

    Key features

    • ABS material – technical plastic for strong and durable functional parts
    • Diameter 1,75 mm – compatible with most desktop 3D printers
    • Black color – universal technical look, suitable for covers and mechanical components
    • Weight 1 kg – economical packaging for everyday printing
    • High strength and toughness – suitable for mechanically stressed components
    • Relatively low density (approx. 1,01 g/cm³) – light but strong prints
    • Recommended printing temperature 225–245 °C – optimal for most common 3D printers
    • Filament length approx. 400 m – sufficient supply for larger projects

    Recommended use

GEMBIRD ABS filament is ideal for:

    • Functional prototypes and technical parts
    • Holders, mounts, electronics covers and mechanical components
    • Parts exposed to slightly elevated temperatures (e.g. in a car interior away from direct sunlight)
    • Models requiring post‑processing – drilling, sanding, gluing or polishing

    For best results:

    • Use a heated bed (approx. 80–100 °C)
    • Reduce drafts and rapid cooling (ideally an enclosed print chamber)
    • Ensure good bed adhesion (glue stick, ABS juice, special surfaces for ABS)

Advantages of GEMBIRD ABS compared to other materials

    • More suitable than PLA for mechanically stressed and functional parts
    • Better heat resistance than common PLA filaments
    • Possibility of post‑processing (acetone surface smoothing, sanding, drilling)
    • Good dimensional stability with properly set printing conditions

    Printing tips

    • Start with a nozzle temperature of 230 °C and bed temperature of 90 °C, then fine‑tune slightly according to the result.
    • Print the first layer more slowly (e.g. 20–30 mm/s) for better adhesion.
    • Reduce drafts – close doors, turn off direct part cooling.
    • For larger parts, use a raft/brim to reduce corner warping.

When following the recommended parameters, GEMBIRD ABS black 1kg provides reliable and high‑quality printing for a wide range of technical and hobby projects.
