ABS filament 1,75 mm is another popular material for FDM printing technology, suitable for printing durable and demanding objects. ABS is more demanding to print and therefore we recommend it for more advanced 3D printing users. Its advantage is high durability and the ability to withstand more demanding conditions, including outdoor use, as ABS resists degradation under UV light.

    Surface Treatment of ABS

ABS can be sanded well and, unlike PLA, does not show problems with "stringing" of fibers during friction. Manual sanding does not require cooling the product. ABS is also suitable for drilling holes without overheating issues. To achieve a smooth surface, a filler can be used, which is sanded and repainted after application until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, the surface can be spray-painted.

    Gluing ABS

ABS can be glued using special ABS adhesive available on the market. Cyanoacrylate glue with a spray activator can also be effective.

    Recommended Settings for ABS Printing

Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface fineness you want to achieve or according to the layer thickness settings during printing. Printing temperature: 230 - 250 °C. ABS filament requires a heated bed; it is recommended to heat it to 100 - 110 °C. For ABS, it is advantageous to cover the printer in an enclosure to maintain a constant temperature in the printer and to prevent product warping. Compared to PLA, ABS requires less cooling; we recommend setting the plastic cooling fan on the printer to 50%.

The filament is supplied vacuum-packed together with a moisture absorber and placed in a cardboard box. Plastic spools on which the filament is wound may vary in embossing or color. We strive for 100% repeatability of winding and spool color.
